Carlos Alcaraz beat Miomir Kecmanovic with ease ensuring that he would get a maximum rest before taking on Sascha Zverev.
Zverev fights hard against Norrie to win in five-sets

The men’s quarter-finals are taking shape and another blockbuster clash will be written
News Insights
- Zverev unbeaten against Norrie, winning all 5 matches
- The big-serving German is looking for his first grand slam title
- Hurkacz will face Medvedev elsewhere in the bottom half of the draw.
Monday night was a packed night of high-quality tennis in the men’s draw. Daniil Medvedev managed to get his business wrapped up early in the afternoon. He defeated Portugal’s Nuno Borges three sets to one (6-3, 7-6, 5-7, 6-1). He faces Hubert Hurkacz of Poland, who defeated young Frenchman Arthur Cazaux in a reasonably comfortable straight sets match.
By far the pick of the Round of 16 matches was Zverev vs Norrie which treated the Margaret Court Arena crowd to over four hours of action. The early stages of the match saw both men extremely solid off their service games. It took a solid return game from Zverev to break Norrie which resulted in him taking the first set 7-5.
Norrie managed to bounce back in strong fashion, rattling off four games on the spin which levelled the match. The third and fourth set were very similar with Zverev getting the important break in the third and the roles reversed in the fourth set. A deciding set inevitably went all the way to a match tiebreak. Zverev held his nerve as he stormed to an 8-2 lead which sunk Norrie’s hopes of a Quarter-Final spot.
It did not get any easier for Alexander Zverev as he faces Carlos Alcaraz who always plays with incredible intensity. Carlos Alcaraz also spent over two hours less time on the court in their respective Round-of-16 matches. This extra rest time could prove vital in the Quarter-Final as Grand Slam tournaments can be gruelling on the body in the latter stages of the tournament.
