Cameron Bancroft played a well-played T20 innings with a 74, while Ollie Davies and Alex Ross chipped in with handy cameos.

Sydney Thunder were yet again relying on their middle order to deliver runs after 2 quick wickets fell in the first innings. Ollie Davies, Cameron Bancroft and Alex Ross all contributed runs to the 200 total that they eventually posted. However, the opening combination of the Short’s (Matt and D’Arcy), provided an excellent platform with a 139 run partnership, before Adam Hose stepped into the crease to deliver the final punch.
First Innings
The first over of the match was certainly a sign of what was to come, with Hales taking down Matt Short for 14 off 3 balls. Until the 6th ball of the 1st over where Hales looked to stroke a boundary over cover but missed and was clean bowled. Ollie Davies was in sooner than he would like, again, and he was not shy of playing his natural game - striking at 188.
The Chase
This was certainly an odds against chase although the pitch was fairly friendly for batting. Adelaide needed a quick start which is exactly what their opening pair delivered with 139 runs off 12.4 overs. Chris Lynn was slightly disappointed once again, 14 (17) after being bowled by Zaman Khan in the surge. Finally, Adam Hose took the game into his hands with 5 fours and a six to win the match.
Player Watch
Jamie Overton impressed on his BBL debut with 2-29 including a golden duck delivery to Gilkes, which included excellent captaincy and field placement by Matt Short.
Nathan McAndrew striked at 220 today for his 22 runs, he was also Thunder’s cheapest bowler in terms of economy rate today. He looks to be bringing his good Australian domestic form into the Big Bash season!
