The Lynn-sanity we witnessed in the first innings was quickly forgotten with many thanks to Marcus Stoinis and a strong anchor performance from Beau Webster.

News Insights
- 19-ball half-century from Marcus Stoinis
- Chris Lynn with a blistering 83 in the first innings
- Dan Lawrence makes season debut with a 26-ball fifty
- Stars win their third consecutive match
The Big Bash produced a thrilling evening of action to round off 2023 with the Melbourne Stars proving victorious over Adelaide Strikers. Some blistering batting performances were seen on a pitch which proved tricky for the bowlers. Some of the Big Bash’s biggest names were on show tonight and they delivered to the Adelaide crowd.
Lynn-Sanity
We are never sure as to which Chris Lynn we will see in the back end of his career. However, It was vintage Lynn on display for the Strikers tonight as he piled on an 83-run innings to put his side firmly in the driving seat to defend the monster total posted. The Adelaide total was boosted by the batting cameo from overseas signing Jamie Overton, who hit a four and six for his 19 from 12.
Record-breaking Stars
Melbourne Stars were required to break their own BBL record of the highest chase if they were to secure a 3rd successive win. With Maxwell, an in-form Beau Webster and a fresh signing, Dan Lawrence in their shed - they were never written off to chase the 205 total. Dan Lawrence instantly put the Strikers on the back-foot with a 50 (26). This was followed by an anchoring performance by Beau Webster assisted by Marcus Stoinis freeing the arms for a 19=ball fifty.
What’s next in 2024
Big Bash has not kept us waiting for more action, as we look forward to more BBL on New Year’s Day - a double header. Starting in Hobart for the afternoon match between the Hurricanes and the Thunder before heading onto the mainland for the Heat hosting the Sixers. Hopefully, the players have kept it sensible on New Year’s Eve for an entertaining day of Big Bash action!
