Three weeks into the NRL season, just two teams remain undefeated while only four find themselves without a win, leaving the bulk of the league sitting somewhere in the middle having split their first few games of the season either 2-1 or 1-2. From a NRL tipping perspective, we had a good week in Round 3, ending the weekend around five units up to make it back to back solid weeks. Round 4 offers us the chance to make it three winning weeks in a row, with the eight-game schedule kicking off on Thursday night when the Rabbitohs host the Panthers, and wrapping up with an interesting game between the Tigers and Warriors on Sunday evening. Take a look at our tips and predictions for all of them below.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Penrith Panthers
After a tumultuous 2024 season, the Rabbitohs were always going to be looking to make a big jump up the ladder with Wayne Bennett back at the helm, and with two wins from their first three games they are poised to do that. Things could have been very different, however; those two wins each came by under a point, and they struggled in their sternest test of the season last week, going down by 15 points to the Sharks. Things don’t get any easier this week, even if the Panthers are looking a little shaky to kick off the year.
The four-time reigning Premiers were weakened by off-season departures, but consecutive losses in the past two weeks have been disappointing. Having said that, they were far from disgraced last week, going down by just six points in a thrilling Grand Final replay in Melbourne – a result which bizarrely, meant all three of their games this season have been decided by six points. But this one they will be hoping is not that close. The Rabbitohs might be able to hang around for a little while, but the Panthers should be able to pull away and win their second game of the season reasonably comfortably.
Predicted Squads
South Sydney Rabbitohs: 1. Jye Gray 2. Isaiah Tass 3. Jack Wighton 4. Campbell Graham 5. Mikaele Ravalawa 6. Cody Walker 7. Jamie Humphreys 8. Sean Keppie 9. Peter Mamouzelos 10. Davvy Moale 11. Sydney Roosters vs Gold Coast Titans
Both the Roosters and the Titans have had topsy-turvy starts to the season, trading wins for losses over their first three games. For the Roosters, that has involved a win and two defeat, their record tilting to 1-2 after a surprisingly low-scoring game against the Warriors. A week after beating the reigning Premiers in 70-point game, the Roosters opened the scoring in New Zealand, but those were the only points they scored en route to a 14-6 loss.
The Titans, meanwhile, bounced back from a Round 2 loss to the Bulldogs with a really impressive defeat of the Knights. They extended a 12-0 lead at half-time to 26-0 with ten minutes left, and a late try conceded did little to dampen what was a comprehensive performance. Both of these teams remain unknowns this season, but each have shown reasons to be optimistic littered with a couple of disappointing performances. This game could go either way, but on their home turf the Roosters might be too good in a high-scoring affair.
Predicted Squads
Sydney Roosters: 1. James Tedesco 2. Daniel Tupou 3. Mark Nawaqanitawase 4. Robert Toia 5. Dom Young 6. Sandon Smith 7. Chad Townsend 8. Spencer Leniu 9. Zach Dockar-Clay 10. Naufahu Whyte 11. Angus Crichton 12. Siua Wong 13. Victor Radley 14. Hugo Savala 15. Lindsay Collins 16. Blake Steep 17. Makahesi Makatoa
Gold Coast Titans: 1. Keano Kini 2. Tony Francis 3. Brian Kelly 4. Phillip Sami 5. Jojo Fifita 6. AJ Brimson 7. Jayden Campbell 8. Mo Fotuaika 9. Sam Verrills 10. Reagan Campbell-Gillard 11. Klese Haas 12. Beau Fermor 13. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui 14. Chris Randall 15. David Fifita 16. Iszac Fa'asuamaleaui 17. Brock Gray
Dolphins vs Brisbane Broncos
It’s been a tough start to life as a head coach for Kristian Woolf. Filling the shoes of Wayne Bennett was never going to be easy, but three losses in their first three games has seen the pressure pile onto his shoulders, particularly given it hasn’t exactly been the most difficult of openings to the season. Their latest defeat came at the hands of the previously hapless Tigers, and while there is no doubt the reigning Wooden Spooners are a much, much better team this season, it was nonetheless the third consecutive disappointing result for the NRL’s newest team.
The Broncos, meanwhile, did what they had to do against the Cowboys last weekend following a really disappointing result the week prior against the Raiders. In a rollercoaster affair, they opened up a 12-0 lead at the half-time break only to give it up within 15 minutes of the second half, but they responded strongly and ultimately ran out 26-16 winners. Despite that hiccup against the Raiders, they have started the season relatively strongly and should have no problems taking their record to 3-1 this weekend.
Predicted Squads
Dolphins: 1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 2. Jamayne Isaako 3. Jake Averillo 4. Herbie Farnworth 5. Jack Bostock 6. Kodi Nikorima 7. Isaiya Katoa 8. Daniel Saifiti 9. Jeremy Marshall-King 10. Felise Kaufusi 11. Kulikefu Finefeuiaki 12. Max Plath 13. Tom Gilbert 14. Kurt Donoghoe 15. Oryn Keeley 16. Mark Nicholls 17. Ray Stone
Brisbane Broncos: 1. Reece Walsh 2. Selwyn Cobbo 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Deine Mariner 5. Jesse Arthars 6. Ben Hunt 7. Adam Reynolds 8. Patrick Carrigan 9. Cory Paix 10. Payne Haas 11. Jack Gosiewski 12. Jordan Riki 13. Kobe Hetherington 14. Billy Walters 15. Corey Jensen 16. Xavier Willison 17. Brendan Piakura
- The Eels conceded the second most points in the league last season and have started dreadfully defensively this year, giving up 56 points to the Storm and then 32 to the reigning Wooden Spooners. With the Bulldogs’ offence humming after 40 points last week, they should put up a big score.
- Storm vs Panthers games have typically been low-scoring in recent years, but the Panthers defence looks likely to be a lot leakier this season. Their two games have seen 50 and 60 total points scored this year, while the Storm’s first had 74 scored.
- The Sea Eagles lost only three games at home last season.

St. George Illawarra Dragons vs Melbourne Storm
As mentioned at the top, just six teams remain either winless or undefeated, and two of them will go head-to-head when the Dragons host the Storm on Saturday. For St. George, the start to the season has been far from ideal from a results perspective, but all is far from lost. They have only played two games and have been competitive in both of them, losing by eight points to the Bulldogs and then one to the Rabbitohs before enjoying a not-so hard-earned break last weekend. This, however, will be their biggest test yet.
The Storm have also already enjoyed a bye, theirs coming after a dominant 56-18 win over the Eels in their first game. Then last weekend, they got a win worth a lot more than two points when they beat the Panthers in just their second game since the Panthers beat them on Grand Final day. The Storm look set to be once again nearly impossible to beat at home this season, and even away they won’t be that much easier a prospect. Up in the Illawarra this weekend, they should be able to make it three from three with a comfortable win.
Predicted Squads
St. George Illawarra Dragons: 1. Clint Gutherson 2. Tyrell Sloan 3. Moses Suli 4. Valentine Holmes 5. Christian Tuipulotu 6. Kyle Flanagan 7. Lachlan Ilias 8. Toby Couchman 9. Damien Cook 10. Emre Guler 11. Luciano Leilua 12. Jaydn Su'A 13. Jack de Belin 14. Jacob Liddle 15. Blake Lawrie 16. Raymond Faitala-Mariner 17. David Klemmer
Melbourne Storm: 1. Ryan Papenhuyzen 2. Will Warbrick 3. Jack Howarth 4. Moses Leo 5. Xavier Coates 6. Cameron Munster 7. Jonah Pezet 8. Stefano Utoikamanu 9. Harry Grant 10. Josh King 11. Shawn Blore 12. Eli Katoa 13. Trent Loiero 14. Tyran Wishart 15. Alec MacDonald 16. Tui Kamikamica 17. Lazarus Vaalepu
North Queensland Cowboys vs Canberra Raiders
The Cowboys got a little closer to a win last weekend than they did in their first two games, though that isn’t saying a whole lot. After back to back thumpings, they went down 12-0 to the Broncos in Brisbane before fighting back in the second half, but after they tied the scores the home side lifted and ultimately ran out 10-point winners to send the Cowboys to a 0-3 start. But back up in North Queensland this weekend, this is their best opportunity for a win so far this year.
The Raiders have actually started the season pretty well, picking up upset victories in each of their first two games, but they were sent back to earth with a resounding thump last Sunday. Heading to Manly hoping to take their record to 3-0, they found themselves down 30-0 at half-time after a 15-minute, five-try blitz from the opposition, and that was extended to 40-0 early in the second. Fortunately they prevented further damage and dragged it back to a 40-12 margin when the game was over, but it was nonetheless a grim performance from the boys from the nation’s capital. This is not exactly a Grand Final preview but it does loom as a tight game, and on their home turf the Cowboys might be able to break their 2025 duck with their first win of the season.
Predicted Squads
North Queensland Cowboys: 1. Scott Drinkwater 2. Robert Derby 3. Jaxon Purdue 4. Zac Laybutt 5. Murray Taulagi 6. Tom Dearden 7. Jake Clifford 8. Jordan McLean 9. Reece Robson 10. Jason Taumalolo 11. John Bateman 12. Kai O'Donnell 13. Reuben Cotter 14. Sam McIntyre 15. Jeremiah Nanai 16. Griffin Neame 17. Coen Hess
Canberra Raiders: 1. Kaeo Weekes 2. Savelio Tamale 3. Matthew Timoko 4. Seb Kris 5. Xavier Savage 6. Ethan Strange 7. Jamal Fogarty 8. Josh Papali'i 9. Tom Starling 10. Joe Tapine 11. Hudson Young 12. Matty Nicholson 13. Corey Horsburgh 14. Owen Pattie 15. Simi Sasagi 16. Trey Mooney 17. Ata Mariota
Cronulla Sharks vs Canterbury Bulldogs
This is one of the games of the weekend. Both the Sharks and the Bulldogs have had impressive starts to the season, losing just one game between them, and that came when Cronulla went down by just six points to the reigning Premiers in Vegas in their season-opener. Since then, they have pumped the hapless Cowboys to the tune of 24 points and last week beat the Rabbitohs by 15.
The Bulldogs, meanwhile, are the only team undefeated through three games (the Storm being undefeated through two), and though it hasn’t been a difficult start to the season they have looked imposing those games. Their latest win was not as impressive an offensive performance as they displayed in their first two games, but despite going try-less in the second half they still did enough to win by eight points against the Eels. The Sharks are generally good at home and this is comfortably the toughest test of the Bulldogs’ season to date, but at long odds they look like a chance of causing a big upset.
Predicted Squads
Cronulla Sharks: 1. Will Kennedy 2. Sam Stonestreet 3. Jesse Ramien 4. Kayal Iro 5. Ronaldo Mulitalo 6. Braydon Trindall 7. Nicho Hynes 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Blayke Brailey 10. Oregon Kaufusi 11. Briton Nikora 12. Teig Wilton 13. Cameron McInnes 14. Daniel Atkinson 15. Tom Hazelton 16. Hohepa Puru 17. Tuku Hau Tapuha
Canterbury Bulldogs: 1. Connor Tracey 2. Jacob Kiraz 3. Bronson Xerri 4. Stephen Crichton 5. Marcelo Montoya 6. Bailey Hayward 7. Toby Sexton 8. Max King 9. Reed Mahoney 10. Josh Curran 11. Jaeman Salmon 12. Jacob Preston 13. Daniel Suluka-Fifita 14. Kurt Mann 15. Harry Hayes 16. Sitili Tupouniua 17. Kurtis Morrin
Manly Sea Eagles vs Parramatta Eels
The Sea Eagles have been perhaps the most erratic team over the first three weeks of the season, trading dominant wins for woeful losses in that time. After beating the Cowboys by 30 points in Round 1 they were pumped by 20 by the Warriors, but last week they bounced back emphatically to beat the Raiders 40-12 – and given they were up 40-0 with a reasonable chunk of time left, it could easily have been more. If they perform like they did in that game again this weekend, it could get ugly.
The Eels find themselves dead last on the NRL ladder after three losses to start the season, and they have not exactly been gallant ones. They were pumped by 38 points by the Storm in their first game and since then have scored just 14 points, going down 32-6 to the Tigers and then last week, thankfully a little more competitively, 16-8 to the Bulldogs. But their offence is really struggling and aside from last week, they haven’t been very strong defensively either. That doesn’t bode well considering what Manly did to Canberra last weekend. Expect a big score from the home side here, and another heavy defeat for the Eels.

Wests Tigers vs New Zealand Warriors
The Tigers renaissance year is going firmly to plan. Already they have notched up two wins in 2025, a great result considering they have won 14 games in the last three years, beating the Eels and then last week the Dolphins after a tight loss in Round 1. Their new recruits were always going to make them a much better team, and they suddenly look capable of at least hanging around the hunt for the finals for a few months, even if they won’t likely make it.
The Warriors, meanwhile, have bounced back really strongly after a dreadful first game of the season, last week knocking off the Roosters in a tight game after beating the Sea Eagles comfortably the week prior. That made it two from two at home, and they look well-placed to re-establish their home country as a fortress for visiting teams. For this weekend, however, they’ll have to do it away from home, and will certainly not have it all their own way out west. This is the biggest test of the season to date for the Tigers, but while they have no doubt improved, the Warriors look like good value to cause an upset to round out the weekend’s action.
Predicted Squads
Wests Tigers: 1. Jahream Bula 2. Sunia Turuva 3. Adam Doueihi 4. Starford To'a 5. Charlie Staines 6. Lachlan Galvin 7. Jarome Luai 8. Terrell May 9. Api Koroisau 10. Fonua Pole 11. Jack Bird 12. Alex Seyfarth 13. Alex Twal 14. Tallyn Da Silva 15. Royce Hunt 16. Tony Sukkar 17. Sione Fainu
