NBA Tips and Multi bet of the Weekend| Feb 14

Just one day remains before the NBA season takes a break for All-Star weekend, with five games set to take place on Friday after every team in the league took to the floor on Thursday. That, of course, means that all ten teams playing will be on the second leg of a back-to-back, though with a few days off afterwards they can afford to leave it all out on the floor. We’re banking on a couple of in-form stars doing just that for our player props which make up the start and end of our weekend multi, while in the middle we focus on a straight-out line bet. Take a look at all of our reasoning below.

Golden State Warriors @ Houston Rockets

Stephen Curry to score 25+ points @ $1.78 with PlayUp

Stephen Curry is playing incredibly well given that he is about to turn 37 years of age, but statistically he has had a decent drop-off over the past couple of seasons. The 29.4 points per game he managed in 2022-23 dropped to 26.4 the next year, and as we near the All-Star break this season it’s down to 23.4 – the lowest he has averaged since 2012-13, aside from the 2019-20 season in which he played just five games. But Curry’s ability to turn it on offensively is still close to unmatched in the league, and he has been doing exactly that over the past couple of weeks. In his past five games, the two-time MVP is averaging a huge 33.2 points per game, and has put up at least 25 in every one of them. There has, of course, been a dramatic change in the Warriors’ roster in that time, with Andrew Wiggins one member of their championship team sent packing to make way for Jimmy Butler. But Butler’s arrival hasn’t exactly forced Curry to take a backwards step – in the three games the pair have played together, Curry has taken 19, 24 and 23 shots, scoring 34, 38 and 25 in that time. With a clearer pathway towards short-term improvement and an increased chance of making the playoffs this season, Curry appears to be playing with a renewed vigour, and it’s yielding plenty of offensive production. Given he is averaging more than eight points over 25 and has hit that number five times in a row, close to even money with some NBA betting sites looks pretty tempting.

Miami Heat @ Dallas Mavericks

Heat -2.5 @$1.88 with QuestBet

On face value, this might look like a strange bet. The Heat come into this game having lost three games on the trot by at least 14 points, while the Mavericks have won three of their last four – beating the Warriors, Rockets and Celtics in that time – and with their only loss in that stretch coming by just a point in overtime against the Kings. With all that considered, and this game taking place in Dallas, the Mavs probably sound like a decent bet, but with their injury list looking the way it is it’s hard to imagine them continuing this run of form. Dallas, of course, controversially traded away Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis, ‘conditioning’ cited as a major reason for it, only for Davis to suffer a multi-week non-contact injury in his first game as a Mav – after dominating the first half no less. The very next game, improved centre Daniel Gafford joined both he and Dereck Lively II on the sidelines, making this Mavericks team, which is now built largely around a plethora of talented bigs, completely bereft of front court options. That puts a massive amount of responsibility on the shoulders of Kyrie Irving, and the veteran guard handled it with aplomb in the first game without that oversized trio against the Warriors last game. Irving was brilliant in that game, putting up 42 points on 15-25 shooting and hitting seven of his 10 three-point attempts, and that performance helped lead the Mavs to an impressive four-point win over the Warriors. But talented as Kyrie is, he can’t be expected to do that every game. The Heat are no world beaters but they are a decent enough team, and the Mavericks in their current, injury-ravaged state, can’t be expected to be a particularly good team unless Irving – or even less likely, Klay Thompson – goes off. Certainly that will happen from time to time, but after playing 40 minutes for five consecutive games, the 32-year-old Irving can’t be expected to carry his Mavs to victory again in this one.

Sacramento Kings @ New Orleans Pelicans

Zion Williamson to score 25+ points @ $1.85 with Unibet

Zion Williamson is not about to set a league-record for minutes played, but in the limited time that he is spending on the floor he is being incredibly productive. In his last eight games, the former number one pick has not spent more than 28 minutes and 21 seconds on the floor in any one single game. But he is scoring nearly a point per minute in that time, averaging an impressive 27.5 points over that span. That’s with a couple of quiet games in there, too, with one yielding just 14 points and another 17. In the other six, Williamson has scored at least 28 points, including 33 of them in just 27 minutes in his most recent outing – which also happened to be against the Kings. Williamson is not exactly renowned for his conditioning, but the low number of minutes he is spending on the floor at the moment is allowing him to be incredibly productive while out there. The Kings, after being battered around by him in their latest outing, will evidently be out to stop him this time around. But intent doesn’t always equate to their results, and it is unlikely to in this case. There are few players in the league who can stop Williamson when he is on song – which he certainly is at the moment – and none of them wear a Kings’ jersey. As talented a player as Domantas Sabonis is, he does not have the athleticism to stop a guy like Zion on the inside, and having hit the 25-point number comfortably in six of his last eight games, Williamson should be able to do so again at nearly even money odds with most betting sites.
