Best Multibet Tips of the Weekend | March 22nd

We look over the nine-race card on Saturday afternoon at Morphettville Parks in search of the three selections to make up our multibet on the card. If we are lucky enough to beat the horse racing bookmakers, we could be paid at odds of $11.55.

Morphettville Parks R3 #2 - Bakeel $1.65

Has looked deeply progressive in two starts in Australia since arriving from Singapore. He was a solid enough performer there but is clearly better than anticipated and his rating might not catch up with him just yet. It is hard to know just how good he could be and this is still only a Bm78 that he is running in. There is a strong suspicion that he could end up closer to Listed contests than this rating later on in the season.

Morphettville Parks R5 #4 - Volcanic Express $2.50

Sitting closer to the speed over a longer distance was perhaps not ideal for him when he was only fourth on the main track just after Christmas. He has been freshened up since and remains at the same Bm64 level. His wins have come over 900m and 1000m so it looks key that this is his opening contest for this prep, over 1000m. The five-year-old has only had eight races in his life so there might still be some stronger performances still to come.

Morphettville Parks R6 #4 - Streetcar Fury $2.80

This is a race where any number of these could be far better than this in time. It could be though, that the one with the biggest upside is this Exceedance gelding. He won a maiden on New Year’s Day at Murray Bridge where he could hardly have been more impressive. It was not a strong field that was behind him on that occasion but the visual impression that he made was one of a nice recruit. He has only been given a rating of 60 ahead of this Bm58 race and that could underestimate him.

Stats and Insights

  • Morphettville Parks is a track inside the main course so is naturally a little sharper than the Morphettville course.
  • Manoel Nunes rode Bakeel in all three of his wins in Singapore and has been in the saddle for both in Australia as well.
  • A low barrier is a plus in sprint races but the benefit lessens in races over longer distances.
  • David Jolly and Justin Potter have an ROI of +40.6 when they combine this season as they do with Streetcar Fury in the last leg.

The handicaps at Morphettville Parks on Saturday are not the strongest in terms of class but they have some very interesting runners. It could be a good day to take on the betting sites with the main focus during the day on the Group 1 card at Rosehill.
