Best Multibet Tips of the Weekend | April 19th

Although the quality of races at Mornington is not as strong as elsewhere on Saturday, there are some very interesting races. There are a couple of selections to take on the horse racing bookmakers with, who have been running on bigger tracks and might just enjoy these slightly easier surroundings.

Mornington R4 #4 - Immediacy $3.20

Was the roughie in our main horse racing tips when he last raced, catching the eye as he ran on into a closing sixth. Unfortunately, being held up at the back of the field was not the place to be in such a slowly run race. He did well to make it into sixth and now steps back up in distance from 1600m to 2000m. That is going to be a big plus for him and this is a slightly easier level of opponent to take on as well.

Mornington R8 #6 - Berkshire Breeze $2.80

Was one of the stories of last season, progressing well when given a true test of stamina, rattling off a hat-trick of wins in May, June and July. Things have got tougher for him since but he showed his strongest level of form for a while when a close second on his most recent start. He had a huge duel with Deakin on that occasion, a horse who has improved in a similar way to how he did. They pulled well clear of the third and that looks strong for.

Mornington R10 #2 - Prancing Spirit $3.20

It has been quite some time since this lad got his head in front but there have been some near misses along the way, including last time out at Caulfield. He clearly needs things to drop right for him to be able to get his head in front but there is more than enough ability in the tank for him to do exactly that. A similar performance to his run last time out can be enough to see him pick up his first win since November 2023.

Stats and Insights

  • Mornington is about 1800m around so not quite as large as the metropolitan tracks.
  • Daniel Stackhouse has ridden the most winners at this track in the last year with a +13 ROI in the process. He rides Prancing Spirit.
  • The home straight is slightly uphill and is only just over 200m long which is a short run for home.
  • Ciaron Maher is the leading trainer at the track so far this season with eight winners at a 25% strike rate. He runs Berkshire Breeze.

It will be key to see how these three selections move on the betting sites ahead of their races at Mornington on Saturday. A couple of them have been running at a good level in the city and any good vibes in the prices should be a good sign.
