Best Multibet Tips of the Weekend | February 8th

We head to Randwick on Saturday to take on the horse racing bookmakers with our weekend multibet. It is a card of solid handicap action where we have picked out our top three selections from across the 10 races. They get started right away in the opening race.

Randwick R1 #6 - Oh Diamond Lil $2.20

On the speed and close to the fence is often considered the place to be at Randwick and this mare will tick both of those boxes in the opening contest. She ran well despite a Soft 7 surface at Rosehill last time and will enjoy being back on good ground. That surface saw her win from the front at Kembla Grange and Canterbury prior to her Rosehill run. Barrier one is the perfect starting position for her and she can start the card with a win.

Randwick R4 #9 - Point And Shoot $2.60

Tim Clark got on this gelding for the first time on his most recent start. Safe to say it was a success, as impressive a run as he has produced in his career. He appreciated the strong pace despite the small field over 1400m at this track. When Clark asked him to go, he went, stretching more than five lengths clear in quick time. 1600m for the first time could see an even better run from him, even with this being a deeper level.

Randwick R9 #14 - Headley Grange $2.60

In front of Point And Shoot at Wyong in January. A strong showing from the middle leg would be a timely form boost ahead of this race. This is a much better level of opposition for him to take on but he suggests he is up to the task. He had a win over 1600m on Heavy 9 last season. To do what he has done this prep over shorter distances bodes well for the return to 1600m here. Has the inside barrier to work from so should get a handy early position stalking the speed.

Stats and Insights

  • Randwick is a galloping track of more than 2200m around with an uphill home straight of just over 400m.
  • Bjorn Baker has a massive +91 ROI at Randwick this season. He runs the middle leg, Point And Shoot.
  • The advantage for the inside barriers is bigger over longer distances like 1800m and 2000m but it’s still worth being on the inside in sprints.
  • In his career, David Pfieffer has an ROI of +18 at Randwick. He runs Oh Diamond Lil in the first race on the card.

A pair of runners from barrier one could be a plus for the multibet this week. Randwick often favours speed and inside runners so we have a pair who should be well set to take advantage. The prices on the betting sites suggest they have a strong chance.
