Saturday Racing Tips - Rosehill 22/03/25

There should be plenty of business being done on the betting sites this week with the phenomenal card at Rosehill on Saturday. It has to live up to the hype but there are some exceptional races in prospect on a day where there are five Group 1 races on a card of 10 contests. Our big roughie on the day comes in the feature race, the Golden Slipper.

BEST BET - #3 Autumn Glow - (BEST BET)
Our one tip that is not in a Group 1 race but she is our best bet of the day. It is impossible to know how good she is going to be, unbeaten in the first three starts in her career. That has included both a Group 2 and a Group 3, dropping down into a Listed race for her return to action. It might be that she will sharpen up for the experience but even if she is not close to 100% fit yet, she should still be far too good for this field. 1200m is as short a distance as she has ever run over but she has shown plenty of natural speed and it should not be an issue.

THE DANGER - #2 Enriched
Has the fitness edge on the pick having won a Listed race at Randwick over 1100m earlier in March. That was a big step up on her return to action when she finished third in a Bm78 at this track. She was placed in a Group 2 contest in the spring so she is capable of running to a very strong level. The Group 1 Coolmore Stakes was beyond her at Flemington on the final start of her last prep but there was no disgrace in that.

VALUE BET - #15 Gangsta Granny
This is by far the toughest task that she has faced so far in her career. The winner of three of her four starts, the sole defeat that she had was on her race debut. Her most recent win was in a Bm72 at Canterbury when making all of the running. She has been drawn in barrier two which will be a help to her if the plan is to go from the front again now that she takes on a Listed class field.

BEST BET - #7 Skyhook - (BEST BET)
Was behind Rivellino in the Skyline last time out but he had a tougher run through on the inside. Held up in his run at a crucial time, he was only beaten 0.14 of a length and lost more than that. Rivellino had a wider barrier draw that day which helped him but this time he is close to the inside in a big field. That could see him struggle for a run which can see Skyhook reverse the form. He was an impressive winner of a Group 3 over this track and trip last time and arrives an improved type.

THE DANGER - #2 Devil Night
Pitched into a Group 2 on his race debut in the Blue Diamond Prelude. That suggested at the time that he is very well thought of and proved his class when winning the Blue Diamond itself on just his second start. Neither of those races was run at a strong pace so it will be interesting to see how he gets on in a race that looks like being quicker run. It could produce a career-best from him and if it does, he’s a massive player.

VALUE BET - #10 Quietly Arrogant
Was just behind Skyhook and Rivellino in the Skyline and he strikes as the type who is going to do better when he is faced with an end-to-end gallop over this distance. That could well be the case here in this big field. Those in wide barriers are the forward-going types so for them to get over onto the pace could mean that they are going a stride quicker than they really want to be early on. It could set it up for a stronger stayer at the trip like this colt at a big price.

BEST BET - #13 Private Harry - (BEST BET)
Like the best bet of the day, it is impossible to know just how good he could be. He has won each of the four starts in his career so far, stepping up in class with ease. This is his first try in a black-type race, let alone a Group 1 but he shapes as if he is going to be up to the task. He hammered Lady Of Camelot and Arabian Summer at Gold Coast on his most recent start in January. The runner-up that day has finished second and third in a pair of Group 1 races since while the third won a Group 3 and was fifth in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate. Given how much distance Private Harry put between himself and those rivals, he is surely up to winning at the top level.

THE DANGER - #14 Commemorative 
Only raced twice in the spring but produced a pair of strong runs. She was runner-up in a Group 3 before being unlucky enough to run into Jimmysstar and Rey Magnerio in a Bm100 at Caulfield. A Group 3 field at Randwick last time was easily despatched by her, looking ready to try her hand at the highest level. Perhaps a little rain would be ideal for her chances given that she is 3/3 on soft ground but it is only a minor point given the level of quality in the rest of her form.

VALUE BET - #3 I Am Me
Has not enjoyed much luck in her two starts so far this prep so they are easy enough to excuse her. She likes to sit just behind the pace so the barrier in one should give her the perfect position to adopt early here to stalk the speed. Rosehill is a course that has treated her well in the past, winning on three of her five visits so far, including a perfect 2/2 when running over this distance at the track. The pair mentioned above are open to a little more improvement than she is, yet to get her head in front in eight starts at Group 1 level. She has run with more than enough credit in the past to give her strong claims of hitting a place here though.
