Selections:
#4 Lady Shenandoah - $2.40
#6 Lady Of Camelot - $7.00
#2 Olentia (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $21.00
#1 Amelia’s Jewel - $7.00
BEST BET - #4 Lady Shenandoah
Has won four straight starts, including a pair at this Group 1 level. She has had the re-opposing Lady Of Camelot behind her in both of her starts so far in this prep. Is up another 100m in distance here and has a wider-than-ideal starting position. She is still to the inside of her main market rival, however, so James McDonald should be able to plot a path that both helps him and could inconvenience their main threat. She has only had six starts in her life so there is a strong chance that there is going to be better to come from her as she continues to mature.
DANGER - #6 Lady Of Camelot
Got closer to Lady Shenandoah last time out in the Group 1 Surround than she had done in the Group 2 Lightfinger the time before. 1400m in the Surround is the furthest that she has gone so far in her career. She is up another 100m here so it will be interesting to see if that is going to bring out any further improvement from her on her 13th career start. She has only managed to get her head in front in two of those prior 12, although one of those was in the Golden Slipper last season. More than capable of winning another Group 1 if she can overcome a barrier in 13.
VALUE BET - #2 Olentia
Has finished fourth in both of her starts so far this prep. Those were both at Randwick in races that were not run at a pace that really suited her. She is going to get a much stronger gallop here which will be a big plus and from barrier three, she can take a position early without having to use up too much energy. With the two biggest rivals here at the top of the market out much wider in the barriers, her starting position is going to be a huge help. There are three wins and a second in five starts when the ground has been soft or worse so if the Soft 6 at the time of writing remains that way, she is a big price.
