Saturday Racing Tips - Randwick 12/04/25

The betting sites are going to be doing some swift business this weekend due to the Randwick card. Both these main tips and our multi bet tips this weekend are coming from the same card which is very rare. That is the level of quality that is on show here, however, that we have so many that we like on the one card. They include a $21 roughie in the Sapphire Stakes to close out the afternoon.

BEST BET - #6 Zardozi
Has only raced over this distance once in her life so far, that in the Melbourne Cup last November when she finished fourth. That was on ground that would have been quick enough for her given that she is 1/16 when she has raced on good and 5/8 on soft or worse. Conditions here should be more to her liking and she arrives off the back of a third place in the Australian Cup at Flemington. She has been running remarkably well over distances that are short enough for her these days and she looks well set for the rise back to this distance once more.

DANGER - #8 Alalcance
She might not get quite such a soft lead here as she did in the Chairman’s at Randwick last time out but she has done nothing but improve. Five wins and four seconds in the first 10 starts of her career have seen her produce better runs as she has stepped up in distance. A wide barrier might mean that she covers a touch more ground than is ideal in the opening stages but in her current form, she is going to be very hard to keep out of the frame.

VALUE BET - #2 Arapaho
Fourth in this race last year, he ran an absolute stormer in the Tancred at Rosehill last time out. He was doing the best of his work late on over that distance of 2400m. He is up another 800m here but showed last year that he has no issue with this trip. This track has not been his favourite place to race in recent times but there is enough quality in his back form to warrant him plenty of respect in this contest.

BEST BET - #1 Fangirl
Super mare has been producing some very smart runs this season. Runner-up in the Verry Elleegant and then in the Geo Ryder last time out. Those races did not really go her way, beaten a hair in the second of those runs. There is not a mass of pace on here which is perhaps not absolutely ideal but she has been running more than well enough against the boys of late to cash in now that she is back in against her own sex. Is an exceptional performer when things drop right for her and if things fall her way here, she is going to be very hard to beat.

DANGER - #3 Atishu
Makes the final start of her career here before heading to the broodmare sales. She is going to be tuned up to perfection for this start and that will make her a leading contender. There are three wins at this level to her credit so far in her career and she went well for a long way in the Australia Cup at Flemington last time out. The 2000m on that occasion just stretched her stamina to its limit which suggests that she should do better now that she is returned to this distance.

VALUE BET - #6 Grizinger Belle
This is a tougher race than she has been seen in of late but she was an impressive winner in the Group 2 Sunline Stakes at The Valley last time out. She went from the front that day which is her usual style and that is going to be a big benefit to her in this field. Looking through her rivals, she looks like the sole pace angle in this contest so she could well get a soft time of things on the front end. Even though she is taking on a better field here, getting the run of the race from the front means that she is deserving of plenty of respect.

BEST BET - #4 Estriella
Dropping into a Group 2 here has the potential to spark her back to form having kept some smart company so far this season. She has been held up in both of her starts this prep which has not suited her at all. The pick of her form has come when she has been ridden from the front and, from the innermost barrier in one, she has the perfect starting position to adopt those tactics once more. Her most recent win came the last time that she raced on soft ground. The conditions should be on the softer side here which is going to be another plus for her.

DANGER - #5 Commemorative
Has the widest barrier to start from here but her win two starts back came when she was trapped out three wide so perhaps having plenty of daylight around her is the perfect starting position. That was only a Group 3 contest, struggling in The Galaxy last time out from a barrier on the rails and on a step up into Group 1 company. This is a nice middle ground for her and she is a perfect 3/3 when she has raced on soft ground in the past. One of a strong book of rides for James McDonald on the day.

VALUE BET - #9 Tashi
Moving back onto a softer surface is going to be a plus for her, just 2/15 when she has raced on good ground but has two wins and two second-place finishes in five starts when she has run on soft. She was a little over two lengths behind Amelia’s Jewel in a Group 2 on her most recent start, a run that reads well at this same level. That was one of her runs that came on good ground but also over 1400m. This can suit her a little bit better and she gets blinkers added back on now which could also be a bit of a help to her. Was sixth in this race last year on a good surface, getting the chance to show she can improve on that run now.
