Nottingham Forest vs. Manchester City
The City Ground, 11:30 PM, Saturday, March 8
Both Nottingham Forest and Manchester City secured their place in the FA Cup quarterfinals last weekend, with the Reds beating Ipswich on penalties and City taking care of business against Plymouth.
Off the back of those results, Man City are the betting favourites here, but we’re not so certain they should be.
Forest have one of the best home records in the Premier League and know how to lock things down when they need to. Nuno Espírito Santos’ side held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw at home in Matchweek 27.
City did beat Forest 3-0 earlier this season, but they are so inconsistent that we rely on past results. Additionally, the Sky Blues have not scored 2+ goals away from home in the Premier League since mid-January.
We’re backing Forest to get at least a draw here.
Nottingham Forest vs. Manchester City Prediction: 1-1
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Double Chance 1 - Forest WIN or DRAW | $1.88
Goal in Both Halves - YES | $1.50
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.54 |
Predicted Lineups
Forest: Sels; Aina, Murillo, Milenkovic, Williams; Yates, Anderson; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
Man City: Ederson; Nunes, Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol; Gonzalez, Kovacic; Savio, Marmoush, Doku; Haaland
Brighton vs. Fulham
American Express Stadium, 2:00 AM, Sunday, March 9
Brighton are one of the hottest teams in England right now. The Seagulls have won five straight matches and are averaging over two goals a match in those victories.
Fulham, meanwhile, have scored just seven goals in their last five matches. The Cottagers have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven matches. However, Marco Silva’s side have a remarkable recent record against Brighton recently.
Brighton have never beaten Fulham in the Premier League. They have not won any of their last 10 matches against the Cottagers. Additionally, Fulham scored three goals in both of their last two matches against Brighton.
So, yes, Brighton are flying right now, but Fulham are the exact kind of team who can bring them back down to earth.
Brighton vs. Fulham Prediction: 0-1
Predicted Lineups
Brighton: Verbruggen; Veltman, van Hecke, Webster; Estupinan; Minteh, Baleba, Hinshelwood, Adingra; Rutter, Welbeck
Fulham: Leno; Castagne, Diop, Andersen, Robinson; Cairney, Berge; Smith Rowe, Pereira, Iwobi; Jimenez
Crystal Palace vs. Ipswich Town
Selhurst Park, 2:00 AM, Sunday, March 9
Crystal Palace advanced to the next round of the FA Cup last weekend, while Ipswich Town failed to beat Nottingham Forest on penalties in their FA Cup tie. The Tractor Boys also failed to beat Palace earlier this season.
The Eagles beat Ipswich 1-0 at Portman Road in December in a match where created three times as many big chances as the home team. Our EPL predictions see this weekend’s match being easier for Palace.
Oliver Glasner’s team have scored 2+ goals in eight of their last nine matches. They also look far more in control in midfield with Adam Wharton coming back from injury.
Ipswich can be a banana peel for big teams, but we can’t see it happening here with the way Palace are playing right now.
Crystal Palace vs. Ipswich Town Prediction: 2-1
Predicted Lineups
Palace: Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Lerma, Mitchell; Sarr, Nketiah, Eze
Ipswich: Palmer; Davis, O’Shea, Greaves, Townsend; Morsy, Cajuste; Philogene, Hutchinson, Clarke; Delap
Liverpool vs. Southampton
Anfield, 2:00 AM, Sunday, March 9
This is the biggest mismatch of the Premier League season according to the soccer betting odds. Most sites give Southampton just $23.00 chances of winning this match.
We’d love to tell you to put all your money on the Saints to get a big payout this weekend, but we can’t. Southampton are awful and they will definitely lose this match.
The only questions are whether they will score and whether Liverpool will win by 2.5+ goals. Our EPL predictions say no, Southampton will not score, and yes, Liverpool will win big.
Liverpool narrowly beat Southampton twice earlier this season. However, both those matches were at St. Mary’s. Arne Slot’s team should be able to handle Saints much better at home.
Liverpool vs. Southampton Prediction: 4-0
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Liverpool -2.5 | $1.82 | |
Total Goals by Southampton - UNDER 0.5 Goals | $1.76
OVER 3.5 Goals | $1.61 |
Predicted Lineups
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jones, Diaz; Jota
Southampton: Ramsdale; Aribo, Harwood-Bellis, Bella-Kotchap; Sugawara, Downes, Fernandes, Smallbone, Manning; Dibling, Sulemana
Brentford vs. Aston Villa
Gtech Community Stadium, 4:30 AM, Sunday, March 9
While Liverpool vs. Southampton is the most lop-sided Matchweek 28 fixture, Brentford vs. Aston Villa is one of the tightest.
Brentford are slight favourites, but no one would be surprised if Unai Emery’s team won here. Actually, we would be surprised. Our predictions back the Bees to win here.
Aston Villa have lost seven of their last away matches. They also have been very poor in Premier League fixtures following mid-week Champions League matches. Villa have played 12 matches with less than three full days rest. They have just a 2-2-8 record in those matches.
Brentford will have a full week’s rest going into this match and should get all three points.
Brentford vs. Aston Villa Prediction: 2-1
Predicted Lineups
Brentford: Flekken; Ajer, Collins, Pinnock, Lewis-Potter; Yarmolyuk, Janelt; Mbeumo, Damsgaard, Schade; Wissa
Villa: Martinez; Garcia, Konsa, Mings, Digne; McGinn, Tielemans; Bailey, Asensio, Ramsey; Watkins
Wolves vs. Everton
Molineux Stadium, 7:00 AM, Sunday, March 9
Wolves will once again be without their star forward Matheus Cunha after the Brazilian was sent off in the Wanderers’ FA Cup match against Bournemouth. His absence will definitely be felt in this match as Wolves have struggled this season against tough defensive sides.
Everton have conceded in five straight matches, but they are very much a solid defensive team. They held Brentford to just one goal in their last match and were unlucky to give up a second to Man Utd in Matchweek 26.
The Toffees also have history on their side in this match. They beat Wolves 4-0 at Goodison in December. However, they lost 3-0 to Wolves at Molineux last season. The club have conceded in nine of their last 10 matches against PL teams though, so can’t see them shutting out Everton again this year.
Wolves vs. Everton Prediction: 1-2
Predicted Lineups
Wolves: Sa; Doherty, Bueno, Toti; Semedo, J. Gomes, Andre, Ait-Nouri; Bellegarde, Strand Larsen, Munetsi
Everton: Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Garner; Lindstrom, Alcaraz, Harrison; Beto
Chelsea vs. Leicester City
Stamford Bridge, 1:00 AM, Monday, March 10
Chelsea snapped their three-game losing streak with a convincing 4-0 win over Southampton in Matchweek 27. However, everyone beats Southampton, so we’re not quite sure if the Blues are back just yet. Thankfully for Enzo Maresca’s team, they don’t need to be fully back to beat Leicester City.
Leicester are truly in terrible form at the moment. The Foxes have lost six straight matches. Five of which were by two goals or more. It’s a miracle that Ruud van Nistelrooy has not been sacked yet.
Chelsea beat Leicester 2-1 back in November. They should win much more convincingly this time around.
Chelsea vs. Leicester City Prediction: 3-1
Predicted Lineups
Chelsea: Jörgensen; James, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernandez, Caicedo; Neto, Palmer, Sancho; Nkunku
Leicester: Hermansen; Justin, Faes, Okoli, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Soumare; Buonanotte, El Khannouss, Mavididi; Vardy
Tottenham vs. Bournemouth
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 1:00 AM, Monday, March 10
Tottenham had the weekend off, while Bournemouth advanced to the next round in the FA Cup with a win against Fulham. Our EPL predictions expect the Cherries to keep that momentum going and get at least a draw against Spurs here.
The away team has won four of the last matches involving Tottenham. They also will have to deal with fatigue due to their Europa League match against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday. Dejan Kulusevski will also miss the match with injury.
Bournemouth, on the other hand, will have a full week’s rest and also are due for a big game. They are over-performing their expected goals against and underperforming their expected goals. This tells us that they are sure to give up loads of goals soon and score plenty themselves.
Given how chaotic Spurs are, we think this could be the match that Bournemouth starts making up the difference between their actual goals and the analytics.
Tottenham vs. Bournemouth Prediction: 2-2
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
OVER 3.5 Goals | $1.95 | |
Total Goals by Tottenham - OVER 1.5 | $1.72
Draw No Bet - Bournemouth | $2.02 |
Predicted Lineups
Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Gray, Danso, Spence; Maddison, Bergvall, Bentancur; Johnson, Tel, Son
Bournemouth: Arrizabalaga; Cook, Hill, Huijsen, Kerkez; Scott, Adams; Tavernier, Kluivert, Semenyo; Ouattara
Manchester United vs. Arsenal
Old Trafford, 3:30 AM, Monday, March 10
It’s crazy to think that this would have been the biggest match of the Premier League weekend a few years ago. Now, it’s almost an afterthought.
History is really the only reason to watch this match because we think it will be a route for the Gunners.
Manchester United are a bottom half side right now. While Arsenal are lacking a true goal-scorer, they are still a top team. They put seven goals past PSV in the Champions League on Tuesday and have scored in 10 straight matches at Old Trafford.
Prior to their 0-0 draw with Forest and stunning 1-0 loss to West Ham, Arsenal were on a 14-match unbeaten run. They should do well here and start a new winning streak.
Manchester United vs. Arsenal Prediction: 1-3
Predicted Lineups
Man Utd: Onana; Mazraoui, Maguire, De Ligt; Dalot, Casemiro, Ugarte, Garnacho; Zirkzee, Hojlund, Fernandes
Arsenal: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Nwaneri, Merino, Trossard
West Ham vs. Newcastle
London Stadium, 7:00 AM, Tuesday, March 11
After looking like real challengers to get back into the top four race, Newcastle have slipped to the back of the pack. Eddie Howe’s side have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions and three of their last five EPL matches. They also have lost star winger Anthony Gordon to suspension after he was given a straight red against Brighton in the FA Cup.
West Ham, meanwhile, have won two straight and seem to have settled on an ideal tactic under new manager Graham Potter. Form tells us that we should go for the Hammers here, but we can’t overlook their home form.
West Ham have the 17th-worst home record in the EPL according to expected goals differential per 90 minutes. Newcastle have the fifth-best record in the league away from home according to that same metric.
Our predictions have Eddie Howe’s team setting things right with a win here.
West Ham vs. Newcastle Prediction: 1-2
Predicted Lineups
West Ham: Areola; Cresswell, Todibo, Kilman; Wan-Bissaka, Alvarez, Soucek, Ward-Prowse, Scarles; Bowen, Kudus
Newcastle: Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Willock
