EPL 2024/25 Matchweek 25

After a short break for the FA Cup, the Premier League is back. Liverpool still lead the way, but Arsenal aren’t far behind and could close the gap this weekend with a win against Leicester. Slightly lower down the table, Manchester City, Newcastle, and Chelsea are neck-and-neck in a fight for the top four.

We have predictions and EPL betting tips for every Matchweek 25 game to get you ready for all the potential changes in the table. See our picks and insights below.

Matchweek 25 Fixtures

Brighton vs. Chelsea

Tip

American Express Stadium, 7:00 AM, Saturday, February 15

These two sides have already faced off twice this season. The first was a chaotic game back in September where Chelsea came out 4-2 winners. The last meeting was just days ago in the FA Cup, where Brighton slogged their way to a 2-1 victory. It’s lazy to say, but the match this weekend could easily end up as another dull affair.

Chelsea have only won three matches since December 19th: a game in the FA Cup against League Two team Morcombe and two EPL matches against Wolves and West Ham, respectively.

Brighton haven’t been much better than Chelsea during that stretch and could easily lose this match, but they showed they know how to beat the Blues. We expect a good fight again on Friday, so we are going for a draw here with our EPL predictions.

Chelsea: Sanchez; Gusto, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernandez, Caicedo; Neto, Palmer, Sancho; Nkunku

Leicester City vs. Arsenal

Tip

King Power Stadium, 11:30 PM, Saturday, February 15

Arsenal are the biggest favourites of the weekend according to the betting sites. PlayUp and Unibet both give the Gunners $1.25 chances of winning, and who are we to disagree with them.

Leicester City looked better than normal against Manchester United in the FA Cup last weekend. They also gave Arsenal a scare earlier this year under former manager Steve Cooper, but we can’t see them being any match for Arsenal this time.

The Foxes are in 18th place with the second worst attack in the league according to xG created. Arsenal are the third-best team away from home this season. Only Liverpool has fewer road losses.

Aston Villa vs. Ipswich Town

Tip

Villa Park, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 16

The Champions League is back this week and Aston Villa fans should be extremely thankful that their side has a bye for this round. The Villains have been on the wrong end of some terrible upsets this year because of their inability to deal with congested fixtures.

Aston Villa will come into this one with almost a full week’s rest and should come away with all three points. We’re not sure it will be a huge win though.

Ipswich Town, for all their faults, can make things difficult for top sides. Villa also might be without Ollie Watkins who could miss the match with injury. This leaves them thin up front since they sold Jhon Duran in January.

Villa should win here, but it’s worth taking a punt on the Ipswich Town handicap and on both teams to score.

Fulham vs. Nottingham Forest

Tip

Craven Cottage, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 16

Nottingham Forest are third in the table and just three points behind Arsenal in second. The Reds are undefeated in nine of their last 10 matches, but they may be starting to show some cracks.

They conceded two goals to lowly Southampton before losing 5-0 to Bournemouth. However, they followed that up with a 7-0 hammering of Brighton. In the next match though, they needed penalties to beat Exeter City in the FA Cup.

If Forest really are vulnerable now, Fulham will punish them. The Cottagers have lost just two of their last 14 matches. They have a bit of a problem closing teams out though. Many of those results were draws.

If current form holds, this should be a low-scoring draw.

Manchester City vs. Newcastle

Tip

Etihad Stadium, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 16

Manchester City followed up their narrow win over Leyton Orient in the FA Cup with a disappointing collapse against Real Madrid in the Champions League. Despite the loss, the Sky Blues looked at their best in that match playing a direct style.

For some reason though, Pep Guardiola’s team can’t seem to play that way consistently in the Premier League, so are cautious about backing them this weekend.

Another reason we are worried about City’s chances are their opponents. Newcastle showed earlier this season that they can grind out a result against the Sky Blues. The Magpies also have allowed the fourth least xG against away from home in the EPL this season.

This should be a low-scoring match and we like Newcastle’s chances of getting at least a point.

Southampton vs. Bournemouth

Tip

St. Mary's Stadium, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 16

Southampton finally picked up their second win of the season with a 1-2 win over Ipswich Town in Matchweek 24. They went right back to their losing ways, however, in the FA Cup with a dismal showing in a 0-1 loss to Championship side Burnley.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, won their FA Cup fixture, beating Everton 0-2 at Goodison Park. Following that result, the Cherries have now lost just one of their last 14 matches in all competitions. Simply put, they are flying.

Andoni Iraola’s side beat Southampton 3-1 in the reverse fixture of this match back in September. Our EPL predictions see something similar happening this time around. We expect lots of goals and both teams to score.

West Ham vs. Brentford

Tip

London Stadium, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 16

The only London derby of Matchweek 25 unfortunately looks like it could be a dull one. Injuries and Graham Potter’s new tactics have limited West Ham to just six goals in their last five matches. Brentford, meanwhile, have scored just four goals in their last five fixtures.

On the other hand, neither side can keep a clean sheet now either. West Ham have conceded the 16th most goals in the EPL this season (46). Brentford have conceded the 15th most (42). The Hammers have allowed their opponents to concede in seven straight matches, while the Bees’ own streak stands at five games.

If one team is going to break their recent streak, we think it’s Brentford. West Ham are a work in progress right now, with lots of injuries in basically every area of the pitch. Brentford are relatively healthy and know what they are doing in comparison.

Crystal Palace vs. Everton

Tip

Selhurst Park, 4:30 AM, Sunday, February 16

While everyone has been focusing on Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth’s overachievement this season, Crystal Palace have been quietly putting together one of the most impressive runs in the EPL. The Eagles have lost just one of their last nine matches and scored in 15 of their last 16 matches.

Everton are also on a bit of a run right now under returning manager David Moyes. The Toffees have won four of their six matches under the Scotsman and now almost look guaranteed to avoid relegation this season.

However, it’s been a bit feast or famine for Everton so far. They’ve done well against poor sides like Tottenham and Leicester, but laboured against more dominant teams like Brighton and Bournemouth. A well-organised team like Palace could cause Everton trouble.

Crystal Palace vs. Everton Prediction: 2-1

Liverpool vs. Wolves

Tip

Anfield, 1:00 AM, Monday, February 17

Wolves are the Premier League’s biggest underdogs this weekend and rightfully so. Liverpool are top of the table, and when they put out a full-strength lineup –which Arne Slot didn’t do in their loss to Plymouth in the FA Cup– they look unstoppable.

With that being said, Wolves are a bit of a chaotic team. They might not be able to beat Liverpool, but they could make things interesting. Wolves only lost by one goal back in September and recently gave Arsenal a run for their money.

Ultimately though, it’s hard to look past Liverpool. They have the league’s best attack, defence, and will be well-rested after rotating in the FA Cup. Wolves also haven’t won at Anfield since 2017.

Liverpool vs. Wolves Prediction: 3-1

Tottenham vs. Manchester United

Tip

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 3:30 AM, Monday, February 17

This match will be a battle of arguably the Premier League’s two biggest current ‘crisis clubs’. Tottenham and Manchester United sit 13th and 14th in the table and don’t look to be improving at all.

Spurs are still a disorganised mess with loads of injuries to their back line and attack. United’s players, meanwhile, can’t seem to make heads or tails of Ruben Amorim’s tactics.

We are either going to see a back and forth game with buckets of goals or a 0-0 stalemate. Our money is on the former, given Tottenham’s leaky defence and Man Utd’s inability to deal with transitions.

Tottenham vs. Man Utd Prediction: 2-2
