We are now sixty percent through the 2024/25 Premier League season. Liverpool still have a clear lead at the top of the table, but the Champions League and relegation fights are in full swing. Arsenal vs. Manchester City and Chelsea vs. West Ham are just two of the matches that could have a huge impact on the top-four fight.

Nottingham Forest vs. Brighton
The City Ground, 11:30 PM, Saturday, February 1
Both Brighton and Nottingham Forest come into this one following terrible losses where they failed to score. Forest were shut out in a 5-0 loss to Bournemouth away from home, while the Seagulls suffered a 0-1 defeat at home to Everton.
Of the two losses, Forest’s was much more concerning. We knew that the Reds’ scoring luck was bound to dry up eventually, but we never doubted their defence. We now have reasons to doubt it. They have conceded 7 goals in their last 135 minutes of play.
Brighton’s loss wasn’t entirely unexpected. Fabian Hurzeler’s side have struggled to break down low blocks all season. It was always going to be difficult for them to score after conceding an early penalty.
Despite the concerning loss, we like Forest to do well here. Nuno Espírito Santos’ team have won both their matches this season following losses by 3+ goals. We’re taking the Reds to get a draw, but it wouldn’t surprise us if they won this match.
Nottingham Forest vs. Brighton Prediction: 1-1
Predicted Lineups
Forest: Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Dominguez, Anderson; Silva, Gibbs-White, Elanga; Wood
Brighton: Verbruggen; Veltman, van Hecke, Dunk; Estupinan; Minteh, Baleba, Ayari, Mitoma; Pedro, Welbeck
Bournemouth vs. Liverpool
Vitality Stadium, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 2
Last week, Bournemouth proved that they are true contenders to qualify for the Champions League this season with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest. The performance wasn’t as flattering as the scoreline though. The Cherries were very clinical and probably a bit lucky to score as much as they did. You can’t deny the result though.
Liverpool also put in a dominating performance in Matchweek 23 with a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town. Arne Slot’s side have secured a bye in the Champions League, so they will be more rested than the other English teams playing in European competitions, which is good because they will need it against this Bournemouth side.
Andoni Iraola’s team has the second best record in the league against teams in the current top seven. Liverpool have just one loss all season, so they are still the team we think will win this. However, Bournemouth should give them a fight.
Bournemouth vs. Liverpool Prediction: 1-3
Predicted Lineups
Bournemouth: Arrizabalaga; Cook, Zabarnyi, Huijsen, Kerkez; Christie, Adams; Brooks, Kluivert, Semenyo; Ouattara
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz
Everton vs. Leicester City
Goodison Park, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 2
Everton are enjoying life under returning boss David Moyes. With their 1-0 win over Brighton, the Toffees have now won two of their three matches under the Scotsman and three of their last four since Sean Dyche left the club.
The soccer under Moyes doesn’t look that different, but the numbers are very promising and could be a sign that this is more than just a new manager bounce. Everton scored four goals from 16 shots, a rate that was unheard of under Dyche.
Leicester City, meanwhile, are in an opposite position. The club’s 2-1 win over Tottenham in Matchweek 23 looks promising on paper. However, that result was all down to how bad Spurs were. We can’t see the Foxes turning their season around based on that win.
Our EPL predictions have Everton grinding out another win here.
Everton vs. Leicester City Prediction: 2-1
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Everton TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 Goals | $2.35
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.86
Everton TO WIN | $1.72 |
Predicted Lineups
Everton: Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Garner; Lindstrom, Doucoure, Ndiaye; Beto
Leicester: Stolarczyk; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard; Kristiansen, Winks, Soumare; Ayew, El Khannouss, De Cordova-Reid; Vardy
Ipswich Town vs. Southampton
Portman Road, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 2
We say the same thing about Southampton every week: They are terrible. Until they win, we’re going to keep saying the same thing.
The club have lost all six of their EPL matches under new manager Ivan Juric and have conceded 4+ goals in four of their five home matches since December. Southampton’s only saving grace here is that Ipswich Town are not in great form either.
The Tractor Boys have conceded 12 goals in their last three EPL matches. This includes a devastating 0-6 loss to Man City at home.
Thankfully for Ipswich, Southampton don’t have great firepower. The Saints' top goalscorer is defender Jan Bednarek, who has scored just two goals this season.
Ipswich should pile on the misery here and get a win over Southampton.
Ipswich Town vs. Southampton Prediction: 2-1
Predicted Lineups
Ipswich: Walton; Tuanzebe, O’Shea, Greaves, Davis; Phillips, Morsy; Broadhead, Hutchinson, Philogene; Delap
Southampton: Ramsdale; Bree, Bednarek, Harwood-Bellis; Walker-Peters, Ugochukwu, Aribo, Fernandes, Manning; Archer, Armstrong
Newcastle vs. Fulham
St. James' Park, 2:00 AM, Sunday, February 2
We tepidly backed Fulham to get a point against Manchester United last week. They lost, but our predictions were spot on about something being off with this Fulham side.
The Cottagers seem to have lost their consistency and no longer are willing to give bigger teams a game. They are happy to sit back, which doesn’t suit all of their players as well as it did in past years.
Newcastle, on the other hand, have figured out a system that works perfectly for its squad. Eddie Howe’s decision to stick with a consistent midfield three of Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimarães, and Joelinton has turned the Magpies into one of the most dominant teams in English soccer right now.
The club’s 3-1 win over Southampton brings them up to fifth in the table. They’ve now won 10 of their 11 matches.
Based on current form, it’s hard to pick against Newcastle. We expect Fulham to make things difficult though, at least early on.
Newcastle vs. Fulham Prediction: 2-0
Predicted Lineups
Newcastle: Dubravka; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Gordon
Fulham: Leno; Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Berge; Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez
Wolves vs. Aston Villa
Molineux Stadium, 4:30 AM, Sunday, February 2
After coping well with the congested December and January period of the EPL schedule, we thought that Aston Villa had finally learned how to cope with midweek games. We were wrong.
The Villains looked gassed against West Ham and were lucky in the end to get a point. The Hammers created four big chances to Villa’s nil and created more expected goals.
Wolves, for all their problems, know how to put up a good fight–especially at home. Villa are a mid-table side away from Villa Park. When you add in the fact that Unai Emery’s team will have to play Celtic in a crucial Champions League fixture on Wednesday, we like Wolves’ chances of getting at least a draw here.
Wolves vs. Aston Villa Prediction: 2-1
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Double Chance 1 - Wolves WIN or DRAW | $1.72
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.56
Draw No Bet - Wolves | $2.45 |
Predicted Lineups
Wolves: Sa; Doherty, Bueno, Agbadou; Semedo, Andre, Doyle, Ait-Nouri; Sarabia, Strand Larsen, Cunha
Aston Villa: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Bogarde, Digne; Kamara, Onana; Rogers, Tielemans, Bailey; Watkins
Brentford vs. Tottenham
Gtech Community Stadium, 1:00 AM, Monday, February 3
Tottenham are now in 15th place after their 2-1 defeat to Leicester City in Matchweek 23. Australian manager Ange Postecoglou was booed off the field, with some fans accusing him of putting Spurs on track for relegation. The club are eight points out of the relegation zone.
Brentford are not worrying about relegation following their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. The Bees are in 11th place and goalkeeper Mark Flekken is the number one goalkeeper in the EPL according to saves per match.
We really want to say that Tottenham will turn things around, but can’t see it happening this week, especially with the news that striker Richarlison will miss the game with injury.
Brentford vs. Tottenham Prediction: 3-1
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Draw No Bet - Brentford | $1.55
Total Goals by Tottenham - UNDER 1.5 | $1.79
OVER 3.5 Goals | $1.92 |
Predicted Lineups
Brentford: Flekken; Roerslev, Collins, van den Berg, Lewis-Potter; Jensen, Janelt; Mbeumo, Damsgaard, Schade; Wissa
Tottenham: Kinsky; Porro, Dragusin, Davies, Gray; Sarr, Bergvall, Bentancur; Kulusevski, Son, Moore
Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace
Old Trafford, 1:00 AM, Monday, February 3
Manchester United are now on a two-match winning run following their wins over Rangers and Fulham. This doesn’t mean that the Red Devils are back though.
The Fulham vs. Man Utd fixture was one of the dullest matches in the EPL this season. Ruben Amorim’s team didn’t take their first shot until the 42nd minute. Man Utd created just 0.25 xG.
Neither team had a big chance. Combined, they only created 0.52 open-play xG. Many clubs create at least that much on their own in one half.
Crystal Palace didn’t win last weekend. They lost 2-1 to Brentford. However, the Eagles are in good form with four wins in their last five matches. They are organised and know their roles. We can’t say the same for Man Utd right now.
Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace Prediction: 1-1
Bookmaker | Tip | Odds |
Palace Goals Range - Between 1 & 2 Goals Inclusive | $1.63
Draw No Bet - Palace | $2.65
Both Teams To Score - YES | $1.64 |
Predicted Lineups
Man Utd: Onana; De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez; Dalot, Ugarte, Mainoo, Mazraoui; Diallo, Fernandes, Hojlund
Crystal Palace: Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Hughes, Lerma, Mitchell; Sarr, Mateta, Eze
Arsenal vs. Manchester City
Emirates Stadium, 3:30 AM, Monday, February 3
Arsenal vs. Manchester City has lost a bit of its shine compared to last season when both teams were challenging for the title. This is still by far the biggest game of Matchweek 24 though and has everything to be a cracking game.
Arsenal are struggling to score right now, but are desperate for points. Man City need the points as well, obviously, but have seemingly unlocked their attack with a new direct style of play.
Most EPL predictions have this one being a tight, chess match. We think it could be very open with lots of goals. Arsenal are more solid defensively, so we are giving them a slight edge here. It could honestly go either way though, so we’re taking a draw.
Arsenal vs. Manchester City Prediction: 2-2
Predicted Lineups
Arsenal: Raya; Partey, Gabriel, Saliba, Timber; Odegaard, Merino, Rice; Martinelli, Havertz, Trossard
Man City: Ederson; Nunes, Stones, Akanji, Gvardiol; Kovacic, Gundogan, Silva, Foden, Haaland, Marmoush
Chelsea vs. West Ham
Stamford Bridge, 7:00 AM, Tuesday, February 4
Chelsea suffered a 3-1 defeat to Man City in Matchweek 23. However, the result was not as one-sided as a scoreline suggests. If Robert Sanchez had not gifted Man City their second goal, the Blues could’ve taken all three points.
West Ham, meanwhile, were unfortunate not to win away at Aston Villa. The Hammers dominated a tired Villains team in the second half and were rewarded for it with a 70th minute equaliser from Emerson.
Graham Potter’s team won’t get the benefit of playing a tired side against Chelsea, who will not be playing midweek. We also can’t see them coping well with playing away.
The Hammers have struggled to create chances under Potter. Before he came, they were already one of the worst scorers away from home. Only three teams have scored fewer goals on the road this season than West Ham.
The building blocks are there for West Ham, but they are too injured and Chelsea are too talented right now. Chelsea should win this one.
Chelsea vs. West Ham Prediction: 3-1
Predicted Lineups
Chelsea: Sanchez; Gusto, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernandez, Caicedo; Madueke, Palmer, Sancho; Jackson
West Ham: Fabianski; Coufal, Kilman, Cresswell; Wan-Bissaka, Alvarez, Soucek, Emerson; Paqueta, Kudus, Soler
