Needing just 3 runs off the final ball, Heat managed to defend their total successfully despite a 16-over chase being set for the Hurricanes.
Brisbane take it right down to the wire in BBL thriller

Chaudhury second innings heroics not quite enough as Heat emerge victorious
News Insights
- Nikhil Chaudhury top bats for Hobart with 55 (38)
- Rain delay caused revised DLS target of 118 from 16 overs
- Xavier Bartlett destructive in powerplay
- Brisbane Heat qualify for BBL Finals
Brisbane Heat Innings
Initially, it looked very tricky for batting as the ball was swinging for a large period of time in the first phase. Josh Brown struggled to build an innings and he eventually gave away his wicket while Munro crawled to 56 off 47 which is very watchful by his standards. Chris Jordan, who has had a poor Big Bash season so far, managed to pick up 3 wickets for just 19 runs as he was the pick of the Hobart bowlers.
Radar Watch
With rain expected to arrive from the coast, we looked as if we would be losing a small amount of overs. At the time this seemed as if it would play into the hands of Hobart Hurricanes as Kuhnemann and Swepson would struggle to grip the ball. Just 4 overs were lost in the chase and the revised DLS target was 118 runs from 16 overs.
Hobart Hurricanes Innings
Xavier Bartlett and Michael Neser were causing havoc in the powerplay particularly Bartlett who was on a hatrick in his second over. He ended the match with 3-30. The Hobart batting seemed to be relying on the performance of Chaudhury, who managed an impressive 53 with the conditions factored in. However, a late collapse including the wicket of Tim David proved the decisive turn in the match which saw Heat confirm their place in the finals.
