- Australia test season keeps major players away from BBL
PCB Worries
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have placed restrictions on their players from playing in the BBL after the new year. This will directly impact Stars’ duo, Haris Rauf and Usama Mir. Further adding to their worries of picking up another golden spoon this year. Elsewhere, the Australia test cricket season will keep away big names throughout the BBL season, as the West Indies will travel to Australia towards the end of January.
ILT20
ILT20 is the major talking point of player availability issues this season. Many English players including Alex Hales, Sam Billings and Tom Curran are contracted therefore they will be likely to leave early. Australians with contracts such as Tye, Ellis and Sams are expected to wait after BBL commitments. However, a later start this year is good news for BBL fans as players will be delaying their exit from this year’s tournament!
Other Impacts
Afghanistan travels to India, which puts Mujeeb at risk of leaving. Pakistan travel to New Zealand which impacts Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan of the Stars and Thunder respectively. Cricket Australia’s XI is unknown but it is likely to be similar to the PM XI that faced Pakistan. The U19 World Cup in South Africa will impact young signings across the BBL such as Harry Dixon. Finally, SA20 will impact De Kock and Liam Dawson from January 10.
